Yes, I know I haven't posted since December! You are probably thinking about how I've just been super busy with family and school, getting fit (my New Year's resolution), and enjoying life. Oh how ignorance is bliss! Haha. I honestly have been doing nothing. Yes, I've finished two classes since we last spoke & I have made some attempts to be healthier, but I honestly haven't done anything noteworthy. Well. . . .actually I lied . . .I turned 22 on the 24th of February some might consider that noteworthy since you only do that once!
So on to greener pastures now, DJ and I have found a quaint little church that we have been visiting since the beginning of February. It is Coming Home Baptist Church, everyone is super friendly and makes you feel like you're at home. I felt led to offer my skills (if you call it that) anywhere I am needed, and after looking around the congregation at all of the kiddos I decided to start teaching Sunday School and do a "children's chat" on Sunday mornings before the pastor's sermon. Last Sunday was the first time I taught Sunday School! I decided to start with the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). So last week we talked about love.
I introduced myself and we colored "Whoo I Am" pages about ourselves (which I used to make a bulletin board). It was definitely an interesting experience to be teaching the Bible study instead of being the one listening. This week we are talking about Joy and Peace. I have a girl, Chelsea, who will be helping me. I am going to be talking about Joy, then she will talk about Peace. I can't wait!
Here's a picture of a bulletin board I made to help teach Joy to the kiddos.

Note the empty basket. . . each week we are adding a new "fruit" to our basket. This week we will add joy (cherries) and peace (grapes). I'm currently working on a Certificate of Completion for all the kids who attend every lesson (or if they miss one but can still tell me about the fruits). Just an idea at this point.
Anyways I have to go, started double classes this week and need to post a final discussion post before midnight! (Okay so maybe doubling up classes is noteworthy too?!?!) I will leave you with pictures of the "Look Whoo's in Sunday School" bulletin board I made on Wednesday night. =] Until next time.

Awwwww I just love all the different worksheets! They really turned out a lot better than I thought that they would. I found the owls on Google images and the font for the "Look Whoo's in Sunday School" is from dafont.com
What?!?!?
You've never heard of it?
You really should check it out, lots of free fonts to download and use.
I really should have made the font a little bigger on the "sign" above the posters. Oh well, live and learn right?
Next time I know to make them HUGE!!!
(48 pt font just sounded HUGE apparently)
Now on to the "Owl Tree"! I decided to decorate the tree because 1.) owls live in trees 2.) I knew if I didn't someone would say, "you should have put owls in the tree too!" and 3.) I found these cute printable 3D owls on www.3eyedbear.com
Not into owls? they have other 3D critters you can print too! Elephants, monsters, mice, cats, bunnies, dogs, people, the list goes on! Go check them out sometime!
